Welcome to the Virtual Athletics website. This exciting and innovative competitive structure aims to improve participation in athletics by providing easy access to intra and inter school competition activities. It can be run from any site, which will be attractive to those schools in remote rural or inner city locations, or who have transport difficulties. It also helps maintain pupils interest in the sport over the whole year.

Competitions are based upon points derived from the Aviva Shine Awards performance tables. These points are collated to form an aggregate group score, which is used to determine a position on a league table.

National leagues are set up each term and are open all registered users. These are based upon multi-activity formats: 3 events Sep – Dec; 5 events Jan – Mar; and 7 events April – July. Full details of all the leagues and events can be found here. In addition, closed leagues of a variety of formats, can be organised on a regional, county or community basis.

The competitions are designed to be flexible in format, so events may be undertaken in curriculum time, during lunchtime or as part of an after school club. We trust that you will find Virtual Athletics fun and simple to use.
